Eligibility
Medical Qualification
- MBBS/MDS/Master of Physiotherapy with a minimum 55% aggregate marks, OR
- MD/MS in the subject concerned, OR
- Diplomat of National Board of Examination.
- Note: Candidates who have obtained MBBS/MD/MS/MDS degrees from Medical Colleges not recognized by the Medical Council of India are not eligible to apply.
Non-Medical/Life Sciences/Social Behavioural Sciences
- Candidates must have passed M.Sc/MA/Masters in Engineering/Master of Physiotherapy or its equivalent examination with at least 60% marks from colleges/institutes recognized by the UGC.
- Non-Medical/Life Sciences Subjects: A degree of Master of Sciences (M.Sc) or Master in Veterinary Science (M.V.Sc.) or M.Sc. (Laboratory Technology) or M.Sc (Speech & Hearing) in subjects allied to Medical Sciences such as Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Human Biology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Immunology, Life Sciences including Botany, Zoology, Genetics, Cell Biology, Pharmacology, Pharmacy, Organic Chemistry, Anthropology & M.Sc (Human Genomics), ME/M.Tech.
- Social Behavioural Sciences Subjects: Anthropology, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Nursing, Child Development. MA/M.Sc/M.Phil in Health Promotion/Education, Health Management, Epidemiology, Environmental Health/Environmental Sciences and Public Health, Nutrition/Applied Nutrition/Food & Nutrition, Health Economics/Applied Economics/Economics, Public Health/Community Health and MPH, Post-graduation in Law i.e. LLM and its equivalent qualification.
For Ph.D. (Nursing)
A degree of Master of Science in Bio-Medical Sciences or Laboratory Medicine or M.Sc. Nursing with at least 60% marks.
Note for Employed Candidates
- Candidates working under the Central Govt./Semi Govt./Autonomous organizations should submit their application through the proper channel (i.e., through their employer).
- A ‘No Objection Certificate’ is mandatory from their employer before joining the Ph.D. programme.
Requirements for the admission of foreign nationals:
- The foreign nationals are required to send their application through Diplomatic channel. They are also required to appear in the Competitive Entrance Examination along with other candidates.
- They are required to apply in the prescribed form indicating the choice of the subject (only one subject) for admission to postgraduate course leading to award of Ph.D. degree
- No seat is reserved in any discipline for foreign nationals (except for the bilateral agreement between the Government of India and any other nation).
- No Institute Fellowship will be provided to sponsored/Foreign candidates.
Selection Procedure
STAGE I: Written Examination
- Duration: 1.5 hours total.
- Part 1:
- Content: 50 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) on Research Methodology, Biostatistics, and Basic Sciences.
- Marks: 50 marks (1 mark for each correct answer).
- Negative Marking: -1/3 mark for each wrong answer. More than one answer will also be treated as a wrong answer and incur negative marking.
- Unattempted Questions: Zero marks will be awarded for questions not attempted.
- Duration: 1 hour.
- Part 2:
- Content: Statement of Purpose (SOP) to judge research aptitude.
- Duration: 30 minutes.
- Note: Part 2 will not be considered for marking.
STAGE II: Interview
- Eligibility: Candidates who secure the 50th Percentile or more in Stage I will be eligible for Stage II.
- Candidate Limit: The number of candidates called for Stage II will not exceed three times the number of seats advertised under each guide.
- Selection Basis: Final selection will be based on performance in the Interview.
- Interview Board: The interview board will be constituted under the chairmanship of Dean (Academics).
Important Notes:
- Result Intimation: Results will not be intimated individually. The result of Stage I will be displayed on the Notice Board of AIIMS, Jodhpur.
- Collaborative Ph.D. Programme:
- Candidates from Institutions of National Importance, Central Research Institutes of Eminence, and Reputed Public Health Organizations (United Nations Agencies), ICMR, DRDO, CSIR, DBT, DST, AYUSH Ministry can apply for a Ph.D. programme at AIIMS Jodhpur.
- A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the parent organization and AIIMS Jodhpur is required, with the condition that the parent organization does not have its own Ph.D. Programme.
- In such cases, the Guide will be from AIIMS Jodhpur, and a Co-Guide can be from the applicant’s organization.
- Applicants must mandatorily appear in orientation and other contact sessions at AIIMS Jodhpur.
- Data collection will be allowed at their own Institution under the supervision of the Co-Guide.
- There will be no extra financial implication on AIIMS Jodhpur.
- The project needs to be approved by the IEC of AIIMS Jodhpur.
