PhD Admission Categories

Admission to PhD course will be done under the following categories:

Category A: Fellowship stipend available in the Project.
Category B: Own Fellowship/sponsored candidates/in-service candidates.

Eligibility Criteria

A candidate seeking admission to the course of study leading to the award of a Degree of Doctorate of Philosophy must possess at least one of the following qualifications:

Medical Qualification:
- MBBS/BDS/MD/MS/MDS/DM/M. Ch/BAMS/BYMS/BHMS/DNB in the subject concerned.
- Degrees must be obtained from medical colleges recognized by the Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India/Nursing Council of India/National Medical Commission. Degrees from unrecognized colleges are not eligible.
Nursing Qualification:
- Candidates with M.Sc. Nursing qualification recognized by the Indian Nursing Council can apply.
Non-Medical Qualification:
- A. Life Sciences: Master’s Degree (two years course) awarded by Indian Universities or equivalent in the subject.
- B. Non-Life Sciences: Candidates with qualifications in non-life sciences subjects (M.Sc., M. Pharma, B. Tech, M.A.(Psychology) and M.A. in Social work (Social Sciences)) can apply.
Distance Learning Exclusion: Candidates possessing a Master’s Degree through a distant learning course are not eligible.
Minimum Marks: Candidate should have at least 55% marks in the last eligibility examination qualified.
Employees of Central/Semi Govt./Autonomous organizations:
- Should submit their applications through proper channel (i.e., employer).
- Will be required to submit a “No Objection Certificate” from their employer along with the application form before they are allowed to appear for the selection process.
Completion of Qualification: The candidates must have completed the requisite qualification and degree on or before the closing date of application.
AIIMS Faculty/Scientific Staff: Applicants from AIIMS Faculty/Scientific Staff will be considered in-service candidates for Ph.D. registration as per guidelines laid down by AIIMS Bhopal.

Requirements for Admission of Foreign Nationals (SAARC Applicants):

Sponsorship certificate in the format prescribed in the Prospectus, duly completed and signed by the competent authority.
NOC from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare in case of Foreign Nationals.
Foreign nationals are required to send their registration form of application through Diplomatic Channel. They are also required to appear in the Interview along with other candidates. An ‘Advance Copy’ to be submitted at AIIMS, Bhopal (Email id: registraroffice@aiimsbhopal.edu.in) before the last date of registration. However, the application of all such candidates will be processed only after receipt of the same through the Diplomatic channel.
No emoluments will be paid by AIIMS Bhopal to the Foreign National candidates.

Application Process

The applications will be invited on a prescribed Performa. The application form along with prescribed fees must be submitted by Speed Post/by Hand in the Office of Registrar, Academic Block, AIIMS Bhopal, Saket Nagar, Bhopal (MP)- 462020. AIIMS, Bhopal is not responsible in any manner for any postal delay.

Examination Details for Category A candidates

Mode/Type of Examination: Offline Objective Type (Written Exam) and Interview.
Duration of Examination: 2.00 Hours.
Date of Examination: 19.06.2025.
Date of Interview: As per schedule displayed on the website (usually within 2 to 3 days of the written examination).
Timing of Examination:
- Stage I (Written Exam): 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
- Reporting Time: 09:30 A.M.
- Stage II (Interview): Scheduled date displayed on the notice board/website.
Location of Examination Centre: Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Bhavan (Medical College Building), AIIMS Bhopal.
Type of Examination(s):
- Stage-I: Written Exam (MCQ; Maximum Marks: 80).
- Stage-II: Interview (Clinical/practical/lab-based assessment; Maximum Marks: 20).
Total Marks: Stage I & II combined (80 + 20 = 100).
Distribution of Questions: As per details in the Prospectus.
Method of Cut-Off: 50 percent of marks in the written exam to be eligible for the interview.
Method of Resolving Tie Case: The tie case will be resolved according to written exam marks, and if still unsolved, will be resolved according to age (Date of Birth), with the older candidate getting preference over the younger one.

Examination Details for Category B candidates

Mode/Type of Examination: Evaluation by Interview only.
Date of Interview: As per schedule displayed on the website.
Timing of Examination: Reporting Time: As per schedule displayed on the website.
Location of Examination Centre: Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Bhavan (Medical College Building), AIIMS Bhopal.
Type of Examination(s): Interview/Clinical/practical/lab-based assessment (Maximum Marks: 100).
Total Marks: 100.
Method of Cut-Off: 50 percentage (%).
Method of Resolving Tie Case: The tie case will be resolved according to age (Date of Birth); the older candidate shall get preference over the younger one.
