National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM) Kundli invites application for PhD Admission 2026–27.

PhD program offered at the following departments –

Department of Food Business Management and Entrepreneurship Development (FBM&ED)
Department of Food Engineering (FE)
Department of Food Science and Technology (FST)
Department of Interdisciplinary Sciences (IDS)

Food Business Management & Entrepreneurship Development (FBM&ED): 20
Food Engineering (FE): 30
Food Science and Technology (FST): 15
Interdisciplinary Sciences (IDS): 24
Department of Postharvest Technology, Bioprocessing and Environmental Sciences (PHTBES): 12

Full-time Ph.D. student with NIFTEM-K fellowship.
Full-time Ph.D. student with a valid fellowship from other sponsoring agencies (UGC/CSIR/ DBT/ICMR/ ADF/QIP, etc.). NIFTEM-K will not provide any fellowship to the students admitted thorough the valid fellowship.
Industry/Academia sponsored Ph.D. student.
Early Ph.D (Direct from B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc./B.S. with minimum 4-year degree) with NIFTEM-K fellowship.

M.Tech./M.E./M.Sc./MS/ MBA/Master Degree/ PGDBM/PGDM with at least CGPA 6.5 or 60% marks (CGPA 6.0 or 55% for SC/ST/PwD)
Applicants are advised to review the research areas and eligibility criteria and submit separate applications for each department.

Research Entrance Tests (RET) test will be conducted in 3 stages.

Stage 1: General Aptitude Test
- The test will consist of multiple-choice questions.
- The test duration is 60 minutes.
- Each question will carry one mark.
- There will be no negative marking.
- It is only a qualifying stage.
- Candidates who obtain/secure 40% or above marks in Stage 1 will be eligible to appear in Stage 2 and Stage 3. A relaxation of 5% of marks shall be allowed for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy layers)/EWS/Differently-abled category.
Stage 2: Department level screening
- Candidates will have to appear for a written exam as per the entrance paper choice given in the application.
- The test duration is 60 minutes.
- Question papers will consist of objective questions, abstract writing, case studies, etc.
- Candidates who obtain 60% marks (UR category) and 55% marks (SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy layers)/ EWS/PwD category) in RET-2 will only qualify for interview (RET- Stage 3).
Stage 3: Interview
- After the written exam, candidates will have to appear for an interview and be required to present their research areas/interests before the interview panel.
- Candidates who secure less than 50% marks as per the enclosed score card will be considered NOT FOUND SUITABLE (NFS).

RET Exemption remarks:

Candidates with valid fellowship (JRF) and Industry/Academia sponsored candidates are exempted from RET Stage 1 & 2 and required to appear only In RET Stage 3.
GATE, UGC-NET/ CSIRNET/ ICAR-NET/ICARSRF (without fellowship)candidates areexempted from Stage 1 but must appear for Stage 2& Stage 3.
All other candidates are required to appear in all three stages of the RET.
