Eligibility Criteria

  • A Master’s Degree (2-year/ 4 semester) with at least 55% marks or its equivalent grade ‘B’ on the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in point scale wherever the grading system is allowed) in the subject.
  • A relaxation of 5% marks (i.e. from 55% to 50%) or an equivalent relaxation of grade is available to SC/ST/EBC/BC (Non-Creamy Layer)/ Person with a disability categories as per the State/University rules. A candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed.

Selection Process

  • NET-based category : Only candidates with a valid UGC NET/CSIR-NET or other national exam accepted by UGC are eligible for the NET-based category. NET score must be supported by the valid score card (NTA or similar competent authority). The University will normalize NET scores and interview scores to a 100-point scale for the purpose of ranking.
  • Exemptions from Entrance:
    • Students clearing PAT in 2023 from Munger University, Munger with a validity period of 03 years.
    • Candidates having M.Phil. Degree with a minimum of 55% marks.
    • Permanent teaching employees with at least two years of teaching experience and two research papers published in UGC-Listed/Peer reviewed journals.
    • Non-teaching staff with five years of experience and two research papers published in UGC-Listed/Peer reviewed journals.
    • Candidate having qualified NET, JRF, CSIR/BET for admission to Ph.D, for Assistant Professor and Ph.D.
    • However, all candidates with exemption from PAT shall have to appear at Interview of the respective subjects after applying for PAT.
  • 50% of the total vacant seats shall be filled from the candidates of the exempted category mentioned.
  • 50% seats will be filled from the PAT qualified candidates.
  • Interview : The marks for interview will be 20. All PAT qualified and exempted category candidates shall be eligible for appearing at the interview.
  • Total = 100 marks, composed as:- PG Score (based on PG %) + |Eligibility without fellowship (PAT/NET/BET) (5 marks) + Interview (20 marks).

PAT (PhD Admission Test)

  • The PAT (PhD Admission Test) will be a written test comprising of two papers.
  • Paper-I will consist of fifty multiple-choice questions to the test awareness of General Studies (50×2=100 Marks)
  • Paper II will consist of hundred Multiple Choice Questions in the subject concerned based on the syllabus of the Post-Graduate Courses of the Munger University, Munger (100×2=200 Marks).
  • The minimum qualifying marks will be as follows:
    • General candidates: 50% aggregate marks
    • Reserved category candidates: 45% aggregate marks

Entrance Test

Date of Entrance Test will be announced after closing date of the online application. All relevant information shall be made available on the official website of Munger University, Munger.

Reservation & Tie-breaking

Reservation will be applied as per State Government rules. Tie-breaking among equal final scores will follow University rules (e.g.. higher PG marks, older candidate. higher NET percentage/ percentile, higher interview marks, etc.).

  • The duly filled up and completed forms can be submitted online along with supporting documents and requisite fee from 26/04/2026 to 27/05/2026. Incomplete application from will be summarily rejected.
  • Required Documents to be uploaded:
    • Recent passport-size (unsigned) photograph & signature. Not more than 2 months old]
    • Under Graduate Degree certificate and mark-sheets.
    • Post Graduate Degree certificate and mark-sheets.
    • UGC NET/BET score card (if applying to NET-based quota).
    • PAT clearance document (It has to be within the PAT validity period of three years on the date of advertisement for admission to Ph.D. programme).
    • Class X/Matric certificate (DOB proof).
    • Category (SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS) certificate / PH certificate issued by competent authority.
    • Employment NOC (if employed) and experience certificate (for those claiming experience scoring).
    • Any other relevant certificates (JRE/Research Fellowship. M.Phil certificate. publications).
