Admission Categories
- DET Category: Candidates in this category are admitted through an entrance examination.
- DET Exempted Category: Candidates in this category are exempt from participating in the entrance examination.
Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates appearing in the entrance exam must have passed the postgraduate examination in the relevant subject with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade point. For candidates from Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/ Other Backward Class (Non-Creamy Layer)/ Differently Abled category of Chhattisgarh state, the aforementioned eligibility will be relaxed to 50% marks.
- This eligibility is mandatory for candidates of both DET category and DET Exempted category.
Eligibility for Exemption from Entrance Exam
Candidates holding a postgraduate degree in the relevant subject who fulfill the following conditions will be eligible for exemption from the entrance exam. Such candidates will come under the DET Exempted category:
- Candidates who have passed the UGC-CSIR (JRF) exam or UGC-NET Lectureship / CGSET exam or passed (JRF) exam conducted by national agencies like ICAR, ICSSR etc. or candidates who have passed any of the three categories 1, 2 and 3 of UGC-NET. Candidates of this category will have to upload the certificate of passing the relevant exam.
- Candidates who have obtained M.Phil degree as per University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations 2009 or Regulations 2016. Candidates of this category will have to upload the M.Phil degree obtained as per University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations 2009 or Regulations 2016.
- Candidates who have completed two years of service as regular teachers in any department of Shaheed Nandkumar Patel University, Raigarh (CG) or any affiliated college of this university in the relevant subject. Candidates of this category will have to upload the relevant documents (certificate of regular appointment and minimum 2 years experience).
- Candidates who have two years of work experience as a scientist in any recognized national (e.g., funded by CSIR) and international (e.g., funded by WHO) institution. Candidates of this category will have to upload the relevant documents (certificate of regular appointment and minimum 2 years experience).
- Candidates who hold a postgraduate degree in the relevant subject and possess minimum seven years of experience in administrative management and possess special knowledge in the field of relevant research subject as per the opinion of the departmental research committee. Candidates of this category will have to upload the relevant documents (certificate of regular appointment and minimum 7 years experience).
Selection Process
Candidates must determine the selection of DET Admission Category / DET Exempted Admission Category / both DET and DET Exempted at the time of application according to their eligibility.
Candidates eligible for the DET Exempted Admission Category can also select the DET Admission Category and appear in the entrance exam. Once the category selection is accepted by the candidate, no change in the admission category will be made under any circumstances, and requests for change in admission category will not be accepted.
Candidates applying in the DET Exempted Admission Category must ensure whether they are eligible for this admission category or not.
After the last date of application, after the eligibility determination of the online application filled by the candidate of the DET Exempted Admission Category by the DRC (Departmental Research Committee), information regarding eligibility will be sent to the candidate’s E-mail well before the entrance exam.
On this basis, the candidate should decide for themselves whether they want to appear in the DET entrance exam or remain in the DET Exempted Admission Category.
It is mandatory for the candidate to apply online with the prescribed fee. Candidates applying in both admission categories (DET and DET Exempted) will have to apply separately for both admission categories, and the application fee will also be payable separately.
Seat allocation for both DET category or DET Exempted category in any subject will be done as 50%-50% as per the provisions of Ph.D. regulation number-13 of the university. If there is an insufficient number of eligible candidates in a category, the seats allocated for DET category or DET Exempted category may be interchanged. Candidates applying for both categories will be eligible for both categories for admission, but their admission will be in only one category, which will be decided by the DRC (Departmental Research Committee).
Reservation will be provided to the local/native residents of Chhattisgarh state belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/Other Backward Class (Non-Creamy Layer) and women and disabled candidates in the (new) seats mentioned in column number 03 of this notification, as per the reservation policy of the Chhattisgarh government and the admission guidelines of the Department of Higher Education. These reserved seats will not be changed. Whereas, seats mentioned in column number 02 are backlog seats, which will be filled from the same category. Backlog seats remaining vacant due to unavailability of eligible candidates will be filled with eligible candidates in reverse order as per the admission guidelines of the Department of Higher Education.
For the final selection of candidates qualifying for the DET-2026 entrance examination, 70% weightage will be given to the DET-2026 entrance exam scores and 30% weightage to the interview.
DET
- The syllabus for the entrance exam will be asked for DET-2026, with 50% questions from Research Methodology and 50% questions from the current syllabus of the National Eligibility Test (NET). (Available on the university website).
- The exam will have 100 objective-type questions, each worth one mark.
- There will be no negative marking for incorrect answers.
- The exam duration is 2 hours.
- Candidates must score a minimum of 50% (unreserved category) or 45% (reserved categories) to qualify for admission.
