Indira Gandhi University Meerpur PhD Admission 2025-26 (Entrance Based)

Indira Gandhi University (IGU), Meerpur, Rewari, Haryana invites applications for PhD admission for the academic year 2025-26 Phse-II (Entrance Based).

Eligibility Criteria

A candidate seeking admission to Ph.D. programme must meet the following academic criteria:

• A 1-year/2-semester master’s degree program after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree program or a 2-year/4-semester master’s degree program after a 3-year bachelor’s degree program or qualifications declared equivalent to the master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of the educational institution.
• Provided that a candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree program should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed.
• Candidates who have completed the M.Phil. programme with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of educational institutions, shall be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. programme.

Note: A relaxation of 5% marks (from 55% to 50%) or an equivalent grade may be granted to candidates belonging to SC/ST/BC-A & BC-B (non-creamy layer of Haryana), differently-abled candidates, or those from the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) of Haryana state.

• The candidate shall apply for admission to Ph.D. programme through a prescribed form available on the University Website www.igu.ac.in.

Selection Process

Admission Through Entrance Test

• The Entrance test will consist of 100 multiple-choice questions, each carrying one mark & the duration of the test will be 90 minutes.
• The entrance test will consist of 50% questions on research aptitude/methodology and 50% subject-specific questions. To qualify, candidates must secure at least 50% marks in the Entrance Test. A relaxation of 5% marks (from 50% to 45%) in the entrance test will be granted to candidates belonging to SC/ST/BC-A & BC-B (Non-Creamy Layer), Differently-abled categories and EWS of Haryana.

• Opening of portal for submission of online application form on university website: 5 December, 2025
• Last date for submission of online application form: 20 December, 2025 (up to 11:59 PM)
• Date of Entrance Test: 23 December, 2025 (11:00 AM to 12:30 PM)
• Declaration of result: 24 December, 2025
• Interview of eligible candidates: 2 January, 2026
• Display of Merit List (Overall & Category wise): 2 January, 2026
• 1st Physical Counseling (The selected Candidates will be required to deposit the fee on the same day and proof regarding fee submission must be deposited by the candidate in the concerned Department): 5 January, 2026
