Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates for admission to the Ph.D. program shall have a Master’s degree in the concerned specialization or a professional degree in the concerned specialization declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards or educational institutions.
  • A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC/NT (non-creamy layer/Differently abled and other categories) of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time, or for those who had obtained the Master’s degree prior to 19th September, 1991. The eligibility marks of 55% (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible based only on the qualifying marks without including the grace marks.
  • Candidates who have successfully completed the M.Phil. Degree with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) shall be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. degree in the same faculty and specialization. A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC/NT (non-creamy layer/differently abled and other categories of candidates) as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.
  • Candidates possessing a Degree considered equivalent to M.Phil. Degree of an Indian Institution from a Foreign Educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions, shall be eligible for admission to Ph.D. program.

Admission Procedure

  • University and Institution shall admit Ph.D. students through an Entrance Test conducted at the level of Individual University.
  • The admission will be based on the criteria notified by the Institution, keeping in view the guidelines/norms in this regard issued by the UGC and other statutory bodies concerned, and taking into account the reservation policy of the Central/State Government from time to time.
  • HEIs will admit candidates by a two-stage process:
    • Through an Entrance Test with qualifying marks as 50%. The syllabus of the Entrance Test shall consist of 50% of research Methodology and 50% of subject of specialization. The Entrance Test shall be conducted at the Centre(s) notified in advance (changes of Centres, if any, also to be notified well in advance) at the level of the individual HEI and
    • Through an interview/viva-voce, to be organized by the HEI as and where the candidates are required to discuss their research interest/area through a presentation before a duly constituted Department Research Committee.
  • The interview/viva voce shall also consider the following aspects, viz. whether:
    • the candidate possesses the competence for the proposed research:
    • the research work can be suitably undertaken at the Institution/College:
    • the proposed area of research can contribute to new/additional knowledge.
  • For the purpose of the Merit List for admission to Ph.D. 70% weightage will be given for RET/Post Graduate score in the concerned specialization (whichever may be higher will be considered) and 30% weightage shall be given for viva-voce score.
  • For securing the admission Ph.D. course the student must secure minimum 55% marks in the viva-voce examination.
  • A relaxation of 5% of marks in viva-voce examination from 55% to 50%, will be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC/NT (non-creamy layer/Differently abled and other categories) of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time
  • Seniority in age of applicant students will be considered as preference while preparing the merit list of student’s faculty/specialization wise.

Exemption from entrance examination

  • The University will exempt those students from Ph.D. Entrance Test who qualify UGC-NET (including JRF/UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF/SLET/GATE/teacher fellowship holder or have passed M.Phil. program or submitted the M.Phil. thesis but viva-voce is pending.
  • The students with Ph.D. qualification in any discipline shall be exempted from Ph.D. Entrance Test for obtaining admission to Ph.D. course in another specialization in which he/she has Master’s Degree as specified.
  • Those candidates eligible for exemption must submit the exemption form.

KKSU Ramtek Research Entrance Test (RET)

Paper Pattern

  • Paper I CONCERNED SUBJECT (100 MARKS) – Passing Marks Minimum 50%
    • Part A – 50 marks Subjective
    • Part B – 50 marks MCQ
  • Paper II RESEARCH METHODOLOGY (100 MARKS)-Passing Marks Minimum 50%
    • Part A – 50 marks Subjective
    • Part B – 50 marks MCQ

RET being one of the eligibility criteria for Ph.D. Registration, the declaration of the candidate to be successful in RET shall not guarantee his/her registration for Ph.D. degree. Candidate has to Pass both Paper I & Paper II Separately.

The RET score shall remain valid for a period of one year from the date of declaration of result.

The RET shall be based upon the paper pattern as decided by the authorities.

The medium of question paper:

  • Sanskrit for Sanskrit subject
  • Marathi/Hindi and English medium for rest of the subjects.

The students, however, can answer in any medium opted by them.

In case of any grievance of any candidate with respect to the conduct of Entrance Test the RET examination committee shall be competent authority to decide the dispute.

In no case, examination fees will be refunded.

Application Process

  • The University shall be the authority for calling the application forms from the candidates desirous to appear for RET for admission to Ph.D. degree.
  • The application form for RET is available only on University Website www.kksanskrituni.digitaluniversity.ac.
  • All the filled in application forms along with attested copies of certificates and one self-addressed envelope (size 9″ x 4″) affixed with stamps of Rs. 45/- with prescribed fee paid online.
  • Application shall be received in office of the Controller of Examination at Kavikulaguru Kalidas Sanskrit University, Prashasakiya Bhavan, Mauda Road, Ramtek Dist.Nagpur-441106 Maharashtra.
  • After scrutiny, the Examination department of the University shall publish the list of eligible candidates of RET along with roll numbers and provide admission card to all candidates within the prescribed period on the University website.
  • The candidate should regularly visit the website to see the information uploaded on the website.
