Application invited for Ph.D. Entrance Test (PET) under Category-II for admission to Ph.D. programs at Osmania University in the faculties including Arts, Oriental Languages, Social Sciences, Commerce, Education, Law, Management, Science, Engineering, Pharmacy, Technology, and Informatics.
Eligibility Criteria
Post-Graduate Degree: Candidates must have a Post-Graduate degree (or its equivalent through distance mode, approved by the relevant authority) from a recognized university in the concerned subject or an allied subject approved by Osmania University.
Minimum Marks: A minimum of 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/BC/PWD/EWS candidates) in the Post-Graduate degree.
Conversion of Grades: If results are in grades/credits/CGPA, they will be converted to a percentage to determine eligibility.
Subject of the Test: Candidates must appear for the PET in the specific subject they wish to pursue their Ph.D. in.
JRF Awardees and UGC NET Qualified: Candidates who have been awarded Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) in national-level tests (UGC/CSIR/ICMR/ICAR/DBT/INSPIRE/NFSC & ST) but haven’t secured admission under Category-I, as well as those who qualified “UGC NET/UGC NET for Ph.D. admission only” are eligible to write the PET if they wish to seek admission under Category-II.
Results Awaiting Candidates: Candidates whose Post Graduate degree results are pending are NOT eligible.
Entrance Test Pattern and Medium
Computer-Based Test (CBT): The entrance exam is conducted online.
Format: The test consists of 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), but the weightage is considered for 70 marks only.
Question Types: The questions may include analogies, classification, matching, comprehension of research studies/experiments/theoretical viewpoints, etc., in addition to standard MCQs.
Syllabus: The MCQs will be based on the prescribed syllabus for the entrance test.
Medium of Test: The test will be in English only, except for language subjects.
